Chances for a top 15-20 U.S. full-time MBA program?

by Guest Sun Aug 17, 2008 11:23 pm

Hi,

I have a 3.51 overall undergrad G.P.A, worked for a couple of the big i-banks / one large hedge fund in an operations capacity, and also travelled extensively after college.

My GMAT score, however, is only a 580 (the highest of several attempts).

Should I bother applying to some of the top 15 - 20 programs such as Cornell, Duke, or UMich? I'd love to apply, but I feel like I have a slim shot. Or will my 3.5 GPA and foreign travel experience and decent work experience compensate for the low GMAT score enough to make me a serious candidate for a top 15 - 20 school?

Thanks in advance for your feeback.

Whether you should bother or not is really up to you. You know your GMAT is going to really hurt you, but as I mentioned to someone else in another thread with a similar question as yours -- your chances are zero if you don't apply at all.
