13 Questions wrong in MGMAT 3, yet got a 41 in Verbal

by raghavg.iitk Mon Apr 30, 2012 3:42 am

Hi,

I took the MGMAT3 yesterday and got 13 questions wrong in the Verbal section. To my surprize I got a 41 in Verbal. Is there a discrepency there? I got the 1st 2 questions wrong and rest of the wrongs were more or less evenly spaced. The wrongs were as follws: 3RC, 6 CR and 4 SC.
Similarly in MGMAT2, I had got 10 questions wrong and still got 41.

Is this correlation between number of wrongs and the verbal score expected or do I need to be worried that the Verbal score is not accurate?

Thanks in advance,
Raghav

The verbal on the manhattan gmat seems to be a little inflated, although the questions really are the best out there aside from Gmat prep. I wouldn't rely so much on the verbal scores. I was scoring mid-high 30's and got a 28 on the test. I think I choked but still was very low. I now know that to be ready I want to be scoring on average 42-44 on mgmat verbal to make sure I'm really ready.

raw scores are worthless, and the number of questions you get right is irrelevant. because of the adaptive nature of the test, two people could get the same number wrong and get vastly different scores due to the difficulty levels of the questions..
