2x + 2 < 4

Can you help me identify why the simplyfied form of this problem is x < 2.

that is wrong.. it should be x < 1

2x + 2 < 4
add -2 on either side of the equation.
2x + 2 - 2 < 4 -2
=> 2x < 2
=> x < 1

please check the question...there must be an error

yes. either that or it's part of some data sufficiency problem.

i.e., if the problem was "Is x < 2?" then this would be sufficient, since x < 1 (the correct simplified form) guarantees that x < 2.
