49 in Quant with 15 questions answered incorrectly

by saadfarooq Fri Nov 23, 2012 6:06 am

So I gave the GMATPrep CAT yesterday and got a 740. Breakdown below

Q49 (15 questions answered incorrectly)
V41 (10 questions answered incorrectly)

What I dont get is how you can get 49 in quant by answering almost half the questions incorrectly? Is this the norm? My wrong answers were pretty evenly spaced but still, why would the CAT keep on giving me such tough questions if I was getting so many of them wrong?

Is the time spent on the question in any way a determinant for determining the level of questions to follow?

Confused.

Yes, that's normal. If you'd like to know more about how the scoring works (and I highly recommend it - if you'd like to get a 740+, then the more you know about the scoring, the bette!), then read the Scoring section of our free e-book The GMAT Uncovered Guide. (It's in your student center already, if you have an account with us - even a free account!)

No, time spent does not have any impact on what questions are chosen.

Also - nice job! :)
