9-Session Course Overview Syllabus/Plan

by chipreno Thu Jul 07, 2011 8:02 pm

I used a study plan/guide that I found on this website, and now I can no longer find the full thing. I am trying to find it for my friend who is starting his prep. There is a link for "Guided Self-Study Course Syllabus, but it cuts off after page two and the original one was at least 12 pages. It's not much of a self study guide if it only gets you through 1/9 of the program. Where can I find the full version?

Yes, we did used to offer that. I just spoke with our student services team and there's a new policy in place: now they offer the full syllabus only to those who sign up for a self-study program, a course, or tutoring.

If you have already signed up for any of those, then you should be able to find the syllabus in your student center. If you have not, then unfortunately you won't be able to access the new syllabus. :(

I know that's annoying. I also understand our team's POV (that the syllabus represents one of the major values of the program). So... yeah, it sucks that business decisions have to be made sometimes.

So I have to spend $600 just to get the syllabus I used to get for free. Awful.

You would have to sign up for one of the programs, yes, though that would also give you access to a lot of other things, obviously.

Am I wrong in assuming that Manhattan no longer offers the syllabus for free because that's all you really need to successfully self-prep and the other things that are offered for (hundreds of dollars) with the tutoring and self-prep courses are not as valuable on their own? Please prove me wrong.

I can assure you that simply having the syllabus is not "all" someone would need to study on their own. There are a LOT of things that go into studying successfully for this test. Our syllabus is good, but it's not the magic bullet that will make or break your success. There are plenty of people who do well without our syllabus, just as there are plenty of people who benefit from using our syllabus.

We no longer offer the syllabus for free because we have decided that it is quite valuable, yes - in the same way that, say, a book is valuable, or access to our OG Archer (OG explanations) is valuable, and we charge for those things, too. We do actually have to make money in order to keep producing these products and not go out of business. It was really just a business decision. :)
