Correction

Hello

A small correction :

1 yard = 3 feet (Not 9)

So 1 square yard = 9 square feet

So here area is xy square feet = xy/9 sq yard.

For xy/9 sq yard the cost is 50$

Therefore for one square yard the cost would be xy/(9*50) = xy/450.

A small correction in the above post the answer would indeed be

1/(xy/450) = 450/xy .

Here is another way of looking at it:

Area = xy
Price = 50
Price per sqr. foot = 50/xy
One sqr. yard = 9 sqr. ft.

Total Cost of the Carpet is:

(50/xy)(9) = 450/xy

Copyright violation

I didn't recognize "Test Code (number)" as a source so I went looking for it. What I found appear to be illegally reproduced and distributed questions from GMAC. At the bottom of each page is the following: "REPRODUCTION OF THIS CONTENT WITHOUT PERMISSION OF THE GRADUATE MANAGEMENT ADMISSION COUNCIL IS IN VIOLATION OF COPYRIGHT LAWS."

Don't involve us in that, and use good sense when you are elsewhere on the web.
