Absolute value

by sharok50 Thu Apr 15, 2010 1:43 pm

Q.DS-

Is x>y?
1.| x-y| = x-y
2. ????????

should we think that x and y are different numbers and say that St 1 is sufficient?
I think x-y>= o will lead to | x-y| = x-y.

So x-y>0
=> x>y
or
x-y =o
=> x=y
So st.1 is not sufficient.

But if we think that x and y are different numbers st.1 will be sufficient.i think we can not think x and y are different as the question has not mention that.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

Thanks in advance

What is the second option, and what does the answer says?
First information cannot tell if they x is greater than or equal to Y.
