Advanced Quant Drills Question 5

by deodhar.swanand Thu Nov 29, 2012 7:21 am

I encountered the following problem on Manhattan advanced Quant

Is |2a - b| < 7?

(1) 2a - b < 7
(2) a = b + 3

The answer according to me is (C). Here is my logic:

From (2) we can infer
a=b+3
a-b=3>0
2a>a
2a-b>a-b>0
2a-b=|2a-b|

Combining (1) and (2), we know
0<2a-b = |2a-b|<7

However, (E) is highlighted as the correct answer. What am I missing here?
