can anyone help??

A laboratory has 55 rabbits,some white and the rest brown. Which of the following could be the ratio of white rabbits to brown rabbits in the lab??
1:3
3:8
5:11
3:4
5:1

ans b..can some one explain??

since total is 55, it should be evenly divisible by the ratio,

assume x is the multiplier again.

a ) x + 3x = 55..........gives x = 55/4 not an integer, not possible.
b ) 3x + 8x = 55.....gives x = 55/11 = 5.........possible is the right answer.

...

you can compute for rest if you want but since b gave you an answer, i will stop.
