Though i got the the right answer but i was confused about the sentence after semicolon (;). Can the sentence after semicolon start with Phrase ? In my knowledge it has to be independent sentence. Please correct me where i am going wrong.

what makes you think the second half of the sentence isn't an independent clause?

i thought that sentence after ";" should be connected to the sentence before ";". And here in the correct answer the phrase after ";" making it complete independent sentence. So my query is whether it is possible to have complete new sentence structure after semicolon.

Hi there,
That's actually how a semicolon works. The semicolon connects two independent clauses which can each stand on their own as sentences, but have some relationship to each other or common subject. Ron has written more about semicolon usage in this post: colon-use-t2362.html
