Dear Ron, please help: unable to improve my math score

by nicolec646 Thu Dec 10, 2015 12:05 am

Dear Ron,

I have been following your verbal forum and learned a great deal from you, thank you!

Please kindly give me some advice:
I scored 48 during my first test. Since then, I have practiced over 1000 math problems from OG, OV, and other sources, and have practiced over 30+ exams. I've also made correction and reviewed concepts. I recently took another test in Nov....Tragically, I still got 48!

I had some timing issue for the last 10 questions. No matter how many problems I practice, there are still some that I have absolutely no idea how to approach them.

How can I apply my knowledge to challenging problems? Is there a SOP?
Besides practicing my pace, what else can I do to improve my math score to 51 ?
How many problems should I practice per day?

Greatly appreciate you help!

Sincerely,

NicC

hi,
this isn't the right folder for a question like this. you should post this sort of thing in the 'general gmat strategy' folder (first folder on the forum home page).

in general, a 48 is a perfectly respectable quant score for any MBA program, and is not a good basis for re-taking an exam.
if you are taking the gmat for another reason (e.g., master of finance) then that's a different story, but for MBA programs 48/49/50/51 are statistically indistinguishable scores.
