Divisor vs Factor

by mdwill Fri Mar 23, 2012 5:19 pm

Reading through Chapter 1 of the 'Number Properties' foundation book. The first chapter stated that a Factor is 'a positive integer that divides evenly into an integer.' Also called divisors.

Are there questions where factors/divisors are negative? If so will they state the divisors are non-trivial?

Such as non-trivial divisors of 6 (2,3,-2,-3).

Just want to make sure that when factor or divisor is used, the number will always be positive.

EDIT: Sorry Wrong forum! I'll get the questions in the right area next time.

No worries! Factors and divisors are always positive integers, so that is one less thing to worry about. :-)
