dumb question

what is the number of equations/number of unknowns rule? is it they have to be equal (i.e. 2 equations 2 unknowns you CAN solve?) just want to make sure i have this down bc i believe it is essential to DS

the only definite rule is that if you have more variables than you have equations you CANNOT solve for all the variables. other than that, there is no absolute rule for whether you can or can't solve for any number of variables or combination of variables, regardless of how many equations you have..
