Evaluate in Algebra book

by cschramke Sat Sep 14, 2013 8:36 pm

On page 14 of your algebra book there is an absolute value problem (#2) that looks like: - I -13 - (-17) I

Iworked out the problem so it would be - I 4 I

This would mean the answer is -4... Why does the solution say it is 4? Unless the text is just unclear in the downloaded PDF version and it is supposed to be -4 but looks like 4?

I'm looking at the most recent edition (5th edition). The problem appears on page 17, and the correct answer -4 appears on page 19.

If you're looking at the 5th edition, look again.

If you're looking at an earlier edition, it's possible that there was an error that has since been fixed.
