Exponent problem help

by shraddhalokray Fri Mar 19, 2010 1:05 am

Hi,

I came across this problem and have a hard time figuring out how did they even come up with this answer. Its an exponents problem. Due to lack of keys on the keyboard for the exponents I actually have to explain how the problem was written. I also cannot copy the problem since it on the GMAT practice test. So hope this helps.

2 raise to (4-1)raise to 2 upon 2 raise to 3 minus 2 raise to 2.

I selected the answer choise 2 raise to 5 but their ans was 2 raise to 8 and I wonder how. Please help.

Thanks!

Hi, I can help u only if I understand the problem. Use ^(shift+6) for raise to and seperate it with brackets. Also use 'divided by' for division.

e.g. [2^(4-1)]^2 divided by [2^(3-2)]^2.
tell me was the problem, if not then send me the actual problem.
