Filling in GMAT scores after taking it twice

by stephanie.cy.tsai Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:57 pm

Hi,

I took the GMAT twice, my scores for Verbal and Quant were both higher on the second time, but my AWA (5.5 on first, 4 on second)is significantly lower than my first time. When I am filling out MBA applications online, they only allow you to fill in one score for each section, and one box for date. Can fill in the scores for V and Q using my higher score on my second test, and fill in scores for AWA using my higher score on my first test? What is the usual practice here? They don't even have a space for IR, does that mean they don't look at it as much?

No, you can't split scores from different tests. Report the scores that are all for the same date. If you'd like, in the "is there anything else you'd like us to know?" section, you can add that you did get a 5.5 essay score on your other GMAT test. (The schools will see both tests on your score report.)

This year, the schools are mostly ignoring IR. Again, they will see the score when they look at your official score report, but if this school isn't even asking for you to self-report it, then that's a pretty good indication of how little they're planning to use it. :)

Good luck!
