Find the square root (DS)

Is the square root of the positive integer X an integer?

(1) The sum of the distinct factors of X is odd.

(2) X has an odd number of distinct factors.

I thought I knew the answer but the explanation in 1 of the reputed test series has cast doubts in there explanation. Answer please?
