Is this one of the imperfect parallelisms that we chose the best among worses?

If there were a choice "found....and resembled", then it's probably better than C ?

DO NOT question the correct answers!

here's a handy FAQ:

Q: Is the correct answer correct?
A: Yes.

Q: Is the correct answer wrong?
A: No.

Q: I disagree with the correct answer. Who's wrong, me or GMAC?
A: You.

Q: I wrote this other version. Is it better than the correct answer?
A: No.

...and, no, if such a choice existed it would be very wrong—for reasons already discussed in this thread.

Hi Ron,

I have eliminated option 'E' and chose C on the basis of the following understanding.

In option E, 'resembling' grammatically here is modifying 'a four inch and a half animal' whereas the intent is to modify 'Lina's sunbird'. Hence, eliminated option E.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks Ron.

^^ "comma + __ing" modifiers don't describe nouns, so this analysis is completely wrong.

(that modifier is used incorrectly, but, not for the reasons you wrote. it's incorrect because it modifies the preceding verb/action—but, here, that's "found in the Philippines", which has no sensible relationship to the modifier.)

Can someone explain "a red eye" at the end of this sentence? I googled to find the image of Lina's sunbird and it doesn't seem like the bird only has ONE red eye. What is the usage of "a" means in here. Can an expert please explain? Thank you

That's an interesting detail. To be clear, we're definitely outside the scope of what GMAT would test you on. In my understanding, singular phrases can sometimes be used (in a way that sounds pretty old-fashioned to me) to mean something general, or plural. Here are a few more examples that I made up that I consider correct:
1) My friend Jared has a long arm.
2) Djokovic has a powerful serve.
3) Madagascar is home to the lemur.
