FOM 2, 4.5.3. question number 3

by anatp965 Tue Mar 15, 2016 6:55 am

"What is the slope of the line with the equation 2 y – 4 x = 8?"

the explanation is:

"A line can be expressed with the equation y = mx + b, with m representing the slope of the line and b representing the y-intercept.

The equation 2y – 6x = 5 can be rewritten 2y = 4x + 8, or
y = 2x + 4. Thus, the slope of the line equals 2."

i don't understand the equation 2y-6x=5.... isn't it suppose to be 2y-4x=8 ??

thank you,

anat.

From what you've written, yes. Can you be more specific about where you saw this problem and solution? If it shows up in our materials the way you indicate, we'll need to change it.
