Free CAT, 14 questions wrong, still scaled score = 48. How?

by deardhir Wed Jul 25, 2012 9:47 am

Hello,
I am new to this forum and GMAT prep in general, so this may be a basic question... I just completed the free exam on MGMAT's website and answered 14 questions incorrectly (out of 37) on the Quant section. Now that is only about 60% correct, yet the scaled score came as 48 (86th percentile)... is that really correct? Or was the scaled score not calculated correctly?

Thanks,
GD

Welcome to computer adaptive testing! The short answer is, nothing is wrong here. The long answer can be found by reviewing some of the literature on computer adaptive testing to find out how it works..
