general basic math question

Quick question on basic math, I understand PEMDAS, but when going through some math problems, I am missing some of the basic questions and the answer key is telling me to use REVERSE PEMDAS, are there hints or ways to look for when I should be using REVERSE PEMDAS?

Are you trying to solve equations for x? That is a case where use would use PEMDAS in reverse.
