GMAT 700 - Should I retake?

by deepti.saripalli Mon Aug 01, 2011 1:51 am

Hi,

I wrote the GMAT today and scored 700 (Quant-46, VA-40). I wrote pretty decent essays, guessing should get a >=5 in AWA. I have sent my scores to the following schools : ISB, Emory University (Goizueta), UCLA, UNC (Kenan Flagler), Tepper. I dunno if my score is good enough. Can someone please advise? Should I retake the test or is the score worth pursuing? A qualified GMAT trainer I know said I should retake the test as my quant score is on the borderline and there is a chance its not sufficient and could be a deterrant to my applications. :( I have 2+ years of work ex and loads of extra curricular activities and social work.. If a detailed profile info is required will do so in the next post. For now can someone please tell me what do to?

Deepti,

Would not advise you to retake now and you can go ahead with the application. The reason is - unless you score something like 730 or 740 in like 1 months time, you would be better of focusing on the rest of the application. The problem is going from 700 to 750 is difficult in 1 month. If you get dinged this time you can again write GMAT next year.

PS: I am no expert.
