How do ADCOMs view GMAT Scores?

by kyle.steiner123 Thu Nov 28, 2013 11:45 am

Hey,
I have taken the GMAT twice.

1st attempt - Q40/V40/IR6/AWA6 = 660
2nd attempt - Q44/V36/IR8/AWA6 = 650

My question is will the ADCOM give me any "credit" for getting a decent Q,V, IR score even though they weren't on the same test? I still feel like 650/660 is not reflective of my true abilities but can't seem to put together a good Q/V balance on the same day.

Thanks,
Kyle

Hi Kyle,

Those are definitely some tough scores, in terms of how close they are and the different verbal/quant split. You do often choose one score that you are submitting to the school, but your scores from the past 5 years also appear on your score report. Some schools will look at the score report more closely than others. No matter what the 'highest score' is generally what is considered. Not sure if you are considering re-taking a 3rd time; it is not as uncommon as you might think; if you have scored a lot higher on practice tests I might recommend it, if not then it might be more worth your time to focus on your application essays. Good luck to you!
