how many positive factors does a real number has ?

by goelmohit2002 Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:25 pm

Hi All,

Can someone please tell how many positive factors does a real non integer number has ? For e.g. how many positive factors 2.4 has ? Is 1 a factor of 2.4 ? If no why 1 is not a factor of 2.4 ?

Thanks

hi -

you'll never have to deal with this issue outside the context of integers.
things like factors, divisibility, etc. are in general only meaningful concepts within the sphere of integers; this is DEFINITELY the case on the gmat.
