How to tackle Avd MGMAT Guide Questions

by vntar Wed Aug 22, 2012 10:29 pm

Hello MGMAT,

I'm in the middle of studying the Avd MGMAT Guide (scoring around 45-47 on Quant) and have questions on how to tackle the 150 problems at the end.

I realized that I cannot usually complete the problems within 2-2.5minute. I get a correct rate of around 40% if I stick to 2-2.5minutes on these problems.

However, If I take more time around 3-4 minutes my percentage correct goes up to around 60%.

How should I study so I can both bring up my percentage correct, while lowering my time? Should I push and set the clock at no more than 2.5 minute max and try to solve/pick an answer by the time. Or should I let the time run a little and try to get the right answer?

My goal is to consitently score 48 or above on the Quant.

Thanks!

that's a pretty generic question, but i'll do what i can to help. :) as far as deciding whether to take extra time on a question, you'll need to do that on a question by question basis during the test, basing your decision on whether you've built up enough of a time buffer. while studying, you should work to bring down that time, so see if you can figure out what is taking so much time and work to find ways to get faster..
