Idioms- Agree

by maria.minijos Tue Jul 30, 2013 10:58 am

I am using the MGMAT verbal guide for my GMAT preparation. While using the verb "agree", should one distinguish between a person and an object. For example, does the GMAT consider:

"I AGREED WITH the proposal" wrong?

(The correct usage- I AGREED TO the proposal)

and "I AGREED WITH HER" right?

Thanks!

Please read (and follow!) the forum guidelines before posting.

This folder is only for general strategy questions, not content or specific test problems. Check out the content / problem folders and post in the relevant folder depending upon the source of the problem you want to post (and make sure to follow the rules about banned sources). If you are a course student, you can also ask about other problems or issues before or after class or during section.

The question you asked would fit in the General Verbal folder. Or - if you're citing a specific quote or lesson from the MGMAT Strategy Guide - you could also post in the MGMAT Verbal folder.

I'll answer here, but next time make sure to post in the right folder.

I agreed to the proposal is incorrect. I agreed with the proposal is correct.

Use "I agreed to" with a verb: I agreed to work tonight.
Use "I agreed with" with a noun: I agreed with her plan.
