Inequalities

If 4x - 12 is greater than or equal to x + 9, which of the following must be true?

I got x is greater than or equal to 7.

The Answer is: (A) x is greater than or equal to 6.

How can this be so when the problem doesn't state that x must be an integer? therefore x can be 6.5, which doesn't meet the parameters given by x is greater than or equal to 7?

Why does answer (A) have to be true when 6.5 which does not work?
