it may be worthwhile to consider these things in reviewing the problem. when you review, you should explore every little corner of the problem—including aspects that aren't necessary for an efficient solution.

when you're simulating test conditions, though (= doing problems under a time constraint), NEVER do any more work than is actually necessary!
