Last week's challenge problem (discrepancy maybe?)

by sahibasingh87 Mon Jun 25, 2012 7:10 pm

Hi,

I looked at the explanation for the stick and triangle challenge problem and the explanation after listing the possibilities added 3+3+3+6+6+3 = 30 but that's 24. How can this problem be solved?

Also, is the IR section the same for all the 6 CAT tests?

Thank you!

Hi,

Last week's answer took these options into consideration

(1,1,2) =3
(1,1,3) =3
(1,1,4) =3
(1,2,4) =6
(1,3,4) =6
(2,2,4) =3

but I believe they forgot to mention another option (1,2,3) =6

that would make the total to 30 and the answer would be D.

thanks Krishnan; that was indeed the oversight in the explanation. i believe the final answer is still correct..

i think each CAT exam has a different IR section. don't use them up too fast though, or you'll run out and won't have any more to practice from!
