Low score, please advice on how to improve

by bhadauria.kavita Thu Mar 15, 2012 12:54 pm

Hi,

I appeared for gmat two days back and scored 640. I wish to apply in colleges like INSEAD, LBS, and other top MBA schools. My current score is on the lower side for these schools, hence I have no option but to reappear.

I am clueless from where to begin. I have Manhattan set and have studied it thoroughly. I have also given 6 MGMAT tests and GMAT Prep tests. Now in order to prepare myself better, what should I do and how much time should I give? I have been studying since 5 months and have no more energy to go through another five month regime and moreover I think fatigue factor also impacts the performance, hence studying for another long period will only hamper my progress.

Please advise.

Thanks

If you're burned out right now (and it sounds like you are), take about 2-3 weeks off. Don't do anything, don't even think about the test. (Well, first, set up a study plan for when you start again. Then take the time off. :) Don't take more than about 2-3 weeks, though, because you don't want to complete forget everything you've studied.

Luckily, I wrote an article that addresses your exact situation. Read this:
http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... -the-gmat/

It talks about both what to study and, more importantly, HOW to study. If you have additional questions as you continue, of course come back here and ask. Good luck!
