The OA is C. However, I think that "its" has no clear referent here. Can anybody help? Thanks

Well here's my take on the question.
Even i got this wrong on the first attempt!!

I think we should see beyond the usage of 'ITS' in this question.

If you read the non underlined part of the question. i.e
`In their latest press conference`...here we are talking about plural and management is conisdered here as singular.
Note* Management can act as both plural and singular depending upon the usage.

So we need to have a Plural usage...so we are down to C and D.
D the sentence construction seems awkward.
