Math Question - Regarding sequence sums & prime #s

by ag1816 Tue Mar 05, 2013 11:40 am

Hi,

I am trying to understand how to answer the following problem solving question:

"For every positive even integer n, function h(n) is defined to be the product of all even integers from 2 to n. If p is the smallest prime factor of h(100) + 1, then what is the value of p?"

Answer options:
A. Between 2 and 10
B. Between 11 - 20
C. Between 21 - 30
D. Between 31 - 40
E. Greater than 40

The answer is supposed to be E, but I am unsure how they got to that number. Any guidance provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
