Math question.......?

by mathstudent89 Sun Jan 27, 2013 4:18 pm

Hello!
I'm homeschooled and need help with algebra. I understand most of what to do in the problems but I can't figure out this one.
Factor: 2x^2+5x-3
I tried to use Factoring calculator here:

http://www.numberempire.com/factoringcalculator.php?function=2x%5E2%2B5x-3

And I've got : (x+3)*(2*x-1)
Seems like it is the right answer, because textbook shows me the same.
But I really need help on this and I would really appreciate a step by step way to do this so I can understand what to do in these situations in the future.

Thanks in advance.

That is the right answer.

Can you tell me where you get stuck in the process of factoring? How far are you able to get on your own?
