MGMAT SCORE - 650

by info4bhawna Wed Mar 05, 2008 1:08 pm

Hello All,

I took a test from MGMAT and scored only 650, 48 in Q and 32 in V.

Please comment on my perofrmance.( Obviously, verbal needs to be practised again and again !!! )

Is the score of MGMAT give a closer look to real GMAT score or like other tests it is also a little tougher?
In many tests I have seen, they comment that the real score would be higher than what you get in practice tests...is it the same case here also.

The standard deviation on our test is 50 points. This means that your scoring range is a 600 to 700. The standard deviation on the official test is 30 points, so if you scored a 650 on the real test, your scoring range would be 620 to 680. In other words, even the official test is not that precise, unfortunately. (And any practice test is obviously not going to be as precise as the official test.)

We calculate our standard deviation by comparing the scores students get on our tests to the official score that they report to us after they take the real test. We did adjust our algorithm about a year ago to make it closer to the official test because we found we were over and underinflating some areas. It does not consistently score high or low now - some people do better and some do worse on the real thing.
