Need advice on increasing quant score

by ron.bhuyan Tue Jun 16, 2009 3:40 pm

Hi,
I just finished my gmat prep with manhatten about 3 weeks ago and gave my exam today. I had completed all the study requirements and was happy with my general improments. i averaged around 610 in the practice exams as compared to 510 when I first started.

But today I have my exam and only managed to get a 540. I got a really bad score on my quant. I feel I have done all the basics properly and all the study guides as well. Can anyboday give me any additional ideas or resources I should use to try and improve my quant score from a 30 that I got to atleast a 40. I plan on giving the exam again next month and was hoping for some advice.

Thanks.

Read read read read read.

My biggest issue with quant was the gemotry rules. I read the book a second time, and went through LOTS of DS problems from the official guides. Another problem I had in quant was I read the problems too quickly. I would run into the problem of solving a different question with the data given, and the answer to that different question was one of the answer choices.

Try timing yourself to read and set up the problem.
