Hi Disha,
Thanks for providing your information. Unfortunately, the fact that you've been in a very technical role for the past 1+ year is a disadvantage in your profile, and the duration of your work experience is as well. The big thing that the ad coms are looking from when they examine your professional experience is that you're not just a rock star at your job, but that you are a proven leader. With only 1 year on the job in a technical function, it's unlikely that you've had the opportunity to demonstrate the leadership qualities they seek (teamwork, team leadership, firm stewardship, taking initiative to improve processes/business/bottom-line/etc.).
As for academics, your overall GMAT score is good, but like you pointed out, your score is slightly skewed. Not much you could do here, but since your low score is on the verbal side, I'd just focus on making sure your essays are very well structured/written. Your grades sound like they're fine, so I don't think this area will be too big of a concern.
Sounds like you have some good extracurricular and community experience, but I'm not sure how much leadership you're able to demonstrate via those activities.
It's pretty tough to say which schools specifically you should target, but give your interest in finance, I'd suggest trying for NYU and Cornell. I think Columbia will be too far a reach given your professional experience. You could try for Chicago, but it's a bit of a long shot, I think. You might look at schools in the Asia Pacific region - HKUST would be a strong finance program. I'd also include some safer options such as Georgetown or University of Washington or something in that range.
Hope this helps! As for MS in Finance, that's not really my expertise, so I'm not sure if your lack of experience in that field would impact your competitiveness. You'll have to research that on your own.
Good luck,
Mili
