Hi! Please remember to read the forum guidelines before posting. Please don't "bump" your own post. I'm sorry that you had a disappointing experience on test day. This does happen sometimes. Do you remember what your Q and V subscores were? That information is valuable, as it would tell us whether both scores dropped a lot or just one.
If you remember, tell me what those were compared to your practice test subscores. If you don't, tell me your practice test subscores and then describe to me how you felt about each section separately.
If you take the test again and don't like your score, your profile will not be ruined. US MBA programs just look at your highest score. In fact, I generally recommend that you keep your scores, even if you don't like them, because the data is useful for further study - and the schools really do just care about your highest score.
Most US round 2 deadlines are in the early January timeframe, or about 6-7 weeks from now. For most people, that would not be adequate time to study for and re-take the test
and to put together stellar applications. Some people would try to go for it, though - it's up to you, ultimately.
Why is postponing for a year troubling you? Try to figure out what's going on. If you're concerned because you told other people you would be applying this year and you're worried about external pressure, just tell people that you weighed your options and decided that next year is better for your career.
If you're concerned because you think you "should" be going this year, then tell yourself that you weighed the options and waiting a year would be better. After all, if you can do things right (get a solid score and give yourself adequate time to put together stellar applications), then that will increase your chances of getting in...which is better for your career. :)
Next, let's try to figure out what happened on test day. Read this and tell me what you think might apply in your case:
https://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/2014 ... t-wrong-2/Once we figure out what was going on, we can set up a plan to help you get back in there and take the test again.
p.s. If you decide to postpone until next year and you don't want to start studying again until January, that's fine. Just let me know!
