Number Properties - Explanation

by vrunwal Tue Jan 29, 2013 1:58 pm

Below is the question on Page 43 of MGMAT Number Properties Strategy Guide:

5. when is |x-4| equal to 4-x?

The guide suggests x<=4 as the solution. Can someone help me understand why wouldn't x<=0 be the solution in this case?

Regards,
Vijendra

try plugging in a number between 0 and 4 (inclusive) for x, and watch what happens.
