OG - PS #20

I beleive this question is incorrect. Point A is -2 and point E is +2. Abs values of both is the same. But there is no answer choice for cannot be determined. Why is -2 having greater absolute values than +2. Please explain.

another poster posted the actual question. you can't do that - copyright issues - but i will post the following erratum:

point E is supposed to be just to the left of 2, whereas point A is supposed to be at -2. that should resolve the issue.

for what it's worth, point D is also not exactly on 1 in the correct version, but that doesn't affect the answer to the problem.

what's interesting is that some printings of the book feature the correct version (as does the version i have at home, for example), but others don't. what's even more interesting is that the printings i've seen with the correct diagram are older than the printings i've seen with the incorrect version. it's as if they 'un-fixed' the problem during some quality-control procedure.
