Parrallel statements in DS questions

by Guest Fri Jul 25, 2008 1:43 pm

Hi,

Don't recal where I heard this but when using strategic guessing technics for DS questions, you can look at the statements to see if they are parrallel. Can anyone explain what we mean by parrallel?

Eg: Are these statements parrallel?

(1) X is prime
(2) Z is prime

Thanks

Hi,

Here are two other statements that should that I initially thought were parrallel.

(1) The median of Set Y is 5.

(2) The mean of Set Y is 6.

Thanks

You probably saw it on a DS lab (I think it's the first one). Parallel statements refer to statements that offer the same type of information in a disguised way.
IE:
1) x is even
2) x/2 is integer

The one you mention is not parallel, because they are giving you information about two different variables. It would be a different story if:
1) x is prime
2) x has only 2 different factors
