Prep time before 2 weeks of the GMAT

by ravuri.venkat Fri Sep 06, 2013 10:36 am

Hi,

May be I am too far away but I am trying to plan backwards for GMAT test. I am planning to attempt the GMAT around december 1st week but I have planned vacation during thanksgiving. So, I may or not be able to spend lot of time on prep during that time. Is this ok or should I do it differently ?. I am thinking that may be moving the exam date to December 2nd week probably would help my preparation. What should be my strategy in the last two weeks before my test ( if I am on vacation during thanks giving)?. I want to plan the preparation accordingly.

Good question.

First, do you have a specific deadline? Or do you have flexibility?

If you have flexibility, then you want to have a rough test date in mind, but I wouldn't pick the exact date this far out. There are too many variables and you want to give yourself the flexibility to take another couple of weeks if that's what seems best.

The last (roughly) two weeks are mostly about a comprehensive review of everything you've studied. The last few days, you will do less and less - think of an athlete resting and just stretching a little bit right before the big match / game.

So that Thanksgiving timeframe could be a perfect break for you, if you're mostly ready by then. You'd do some light review during the last few days and then take the test right after. Or you might decide that you're not ready and you want to give yourself until mid-Dec or the end of Dec.
