If I recall correctly, during one of the MGMAT lectures, the lecturer mentioned that one of these topics is no longer covered on the actual GMAT exam. Was it combinatorics? Can someone confirm?

whoa, no, that's wrong. i sure hope you weren't told that.
in fact, if the newer gmatprep and gmatfocus problems are any indication, the importance of both probability and combinatorics on the test is increasing (both have historically been very minor topics).
but, certainly, neither of them is going to disappear from the exam anytime in the near future. no way.
