Profile Evaluation: 740, Consulting & Trading

After taking the 9-week course and the three Quest for 750 workshops in a condensed time window, I exceeded my goal on the first GMAT attempt.

Daniel, I appreciate the effort you go through to provide some feedback, and I can tell you that there are a lot of people that find similar profiles as those that are posted and read your response. You are helping guide more people in the right direction than you probably know.

My profile:

740 GMAT (50Q, 40V, 5.0AWA)
2 years as a Business Analyst with an IT consulting firm. Several engagements with fortune 500 firms. Lead stakeholder interviews with C-level management on a couple of those projects and delivered the results (public speaking)
2+ years trading futures in Chicago with a prop firm. Helped with the new-trader onboarding. Traded over 50 different markets.
3.7/4.0 GPA from Arizona State. Received dual degrees in Finance and Marketing. Each had Honors distinction for completing the Honors College certificate.
Active Board member on the Young Professionals Children's Heart Foundation and an elected member of the Young Professionals Childrens Memorial Hospital charity. Planned and executed several events over the past 3 years.

I am looking at Round 2 applications for the following: HBS, UChicago, Wharton, Stanford, Tuck. I am looking for the MBA to get me into I-Banking.

What do you think my chances are given my profile?

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for writing and for the kind feedback. Congratulations on exceeding your target score and on an overall excellent score. You seem to have a strong balance of academics, extracurriculars and work experience. My one main area of feedback is that you'll need to really nail your goal statement. The switch from consulting to I-banking is fairly common, and the schools want to know that you understand why you're making this switch and what it will take to be successful in your new field. You're looking at a competitive group of schools for certain, but you should be able to submit a credible application to each. I'd put Stanford still in the "reach" category given the overall class size, but you can still put forth an application there that should get consideration.

When we reach our targets and exceeds our total targets, It will be given very happy to us. Most of the people reached their targets, It will done by doing hard work, implementing more skills which is necessary for that consulting and trading sector. When we completed our target, We definitely maintain a good profile in future also. It will given more strength for our new projects.
