Profile Evaluation Please - 680 GMAT

by dannymba Thu Sep 11, 2014 12:07 am

Hi There,

I'm looking for some feedback on my profile.

I want to continue my career in the entertainment industry, in a finance or corporate strategy role. Given my aspirations, I am pursuing a full-time MBA at NYU, UCLA, or USC.

My profile below:

Asian Male
Country: Canada
GPA: 3.5
GMAT: 680 (42Q 41V)
Professional designation: Chartered Accountant
Work Experience: 2+ yrs Big 4 accounting firm -> 1 yr Business Development at a media/entertainment company
Extracurriculars: Board experience at an NPO, professional mentor

I am concerned about my overall GMAT (below average for all target schools) and low quant. I am hoping that my designation and accounting/finance background can overcome this. Any thoughts on retaking or perhaps enrolling in a college math course to demonstrate my quant ability?

Any other feedback on my profile is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi there,

Well you may be competitive at USC.... tougher at the others that is true. If re-taking the GMAT is not too much trouble I'd probably say why not.... schools take the highest score and it's fairly common to take it more than once, fyi. Yes your accounting/other quantitative aspects will help. But a higher overall score would also help. Let me know how else I can help! Good luck!
