I am applying to NYU, Tuck, Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, Harvard, Wharton, Columbia.

Do I have a shot?

Hi there,

I must say that at many of those schools it will be quite difficult to gain acceptance with a 2.9... of course there is a lot I don't know about you in terms of your work, industry, accomplishments etc... but no matter what, with the 2.9 it will be tough. You'd have better chances outside the top 20-ish....

Hey there! this is one of the very few posts where ppl actually respond!
Please help to evaluate my profile and a lil advice..

I want to get into S P JIMR/ XLRI/ Great lakes Chennai for Marketing...

Indian, Female, Age: 24
GMAT: 640.. am planning to retake it to have at least 690.. I need advice on this
10th: 91%
12th: 86%
undergrad GPA: 3.8/4
Masters GPA: 3.7/4
(i do not have work experience but I have a masters degree in wireless networks and also few part time jobs at the university)

Leadership experiences:
--IEEE chairperson - Undergrad 3rd year
--Student coordinator at Office of International programs
--Council Of International Students Association active participation
--Engineering club head in undergrad 2nd year

Extracurricular activities:
--Painting; A grade in Intermediate exam
--B grade in harmonium exam I
--state level sports
--National Children Science congress Project selection
--Distinction in Australian Chemistry Quiz and Cyber Olympiad.

Your evaluation would be a great help..

Hi there,

Sorry for any delay-- I just realized you asked for a profile request on someone else's post/thread; normally you'd make a new post but no worries :).

Anyway your grades/academics sound great, and nice involvement during your degrees/at school. What you want to do is look at the class profiles of incoming students at the schools you are interested in and see how you measure up, in terms of GMAT and work experience etc, and that will give you more of a feel of how strong of a candidate you are.

Let us know what other q's you have. And yes a GMAT re-take sounds good. ;)
