PS-20 - Absolute Value Question

by Kaythan Tue Sep 02, 2008 11:25 pm

[Deleted because this is a suspected banned-source question. See below.]

The answer is A, but doesn't E also have the same absolute value?

Can anyone please explain?

Thanks,

I think you are misreading the question. If this problem is from the OG then you might notice that the 2 is not on there, the dot is, i believe, less then 2.

Look at the problem again, I think you overlooked the number line they have provided.

I also pointed out this problem to a MGMAT tutor and he informed me that there is a mistake in how the number line was printed in the book. "E" is actually supposed to be a little to the LEFT of 2. This would confirm A to be the correct answer. I'm sure a lot of people scratched their head on this one if they didn't know about the misprint.

"PS-20" sounds like it's an OG question.

2 things.
(1) This folder is for questions from the MGMAT Math Strategy Guides or the online Strategy Guide Question Banks ONLY. Don't post other stuff here.
(2) GMAC does not permit OG questions to be reproduced anywhere on the web, so please don't do it here! If you are in one of our classes, please ask OG questions during office hours or before/after class.
