Hi,

Can you be more specific about the original author of the question? Which Center's test paper are you referring to? Without the specific source, we cannot respond to your question, and will have to delete your post.

Also, please read (and follow!) the forum guidelines before posting. Each post should only contain one problem.

Thanks,

1.
Let the average of 11 months be = x
Therefore sales for december = 4x

This implies total sales = 15x (11x + 4x )

december/whole year = 4x/15x = 4/15

2.
10X/100 + 15(300-x)/100 = 38
X = 140

3.
5

4.

Width = W
length = (P - 2W)/2

now W * (P-2W)/2 = K

or 2W^2 - P + 2K = 0 ( You have a typo in one of your options )

For 1 : If the average sales for one month is s, then for dec it will be 4s and the total for the year will be 11s + 4s = 15s. So ratio = 4s/15s.

For 2 : X+Y = 300
0.1 X + 0.15 Y = 38
==> X = 140, Y = 160

For 3 : nC1 + nC2 >=12...n works out to 5

For the last one, assume values w=2, l=4 So area = 8...now try putting these values in the choices to see which works.

ok, so these are GMATPREP problems, and i'm feeling generous today, so here are some links:

a-rabbit-on-a-controlled-diet-is-fed-daily-300-grams-of-a-t7852.html

a-company-that-ships-boxes-to-a-total-of-12-t4717.html

post2399.html

you can do the last one by just making up a rectangle (say 3 long, 2 wide), taking the numbers you get (w=2 k=6 p=10), and just plugging them into the equations to see whether they work.

thanks.
