Quick review of formula's and properties

by komail.faizi Thu Jan 07, 2010 11:24 am

Hi,

I wanted to find out if there was a complete list of formula's and math properties compiled together, that I could use as a review sheet for the quant section. I need something like the Geometry handout, except with answers and covering all of the other quant topics.

Thanks!

hi -

we don't offer such a thing. here's your best bet:

* peruse our strategy guides

* every time you find a formula or property that you don't know, or that causes you to hesitate, make a FLASH CARD for that property.

* preferably, flash cards should be two-sided: they should contain some kind of problem/stimulus on one side, and some answer/response on the other side.

for instance:
a card that just says "if a set of numbers is equally spaced, then mean = median" is ineffective - your eyes will just pass over this card, and you likely won't retain this property for the future (since the card isn't interactive).
on the other hand,
a card that says "What is the special property of sets that are equally spaced?" on the front, and "mean = median" on the back, will be much more effective - since it will force you to actually answer the question that appears on the card.

the best things about having a lot of flash cards:
* they're going to be customized to YOUR weaknesses - you won't have to waste your time studying a bunch of things that you already know.
* you can throw the cards out of the pile after you master the concepts.
* you'll actually do a lot of learning just in the process of making the cards!

give this a shot.
