** Real GMAT ** Impact of slow internet connection

by ravindra.kushwaha Sat Sep 24, 2011 12:54 pm

Hi all,

I am not sure if these queries have already been answered on this forum, request you to suggest or point to the thread where they have already been answered.

1) While taking MGMAT tests, I observed that the timer stops after one confirms the answer and in the next question restarts from where it stopped. For example, let us say that one took 2 min to answer (click on confirm) the 1st question, hence the timer stops at 73:00 min (remaining) and starts at 73:00 in the next question. It does not count the time taken in processing first Q and putting second Q (though actually a couple of seconds are spent doing this for every question!! amounting to a little over 1 min per section).

I was just wondering if it happens in same manner on actual GMAT or it is 75 min in real time (per section), counting the processing time!!

2) I read somewhere that if one marks an answer choice on last question of a section (37th on Quant & 41st on verbal) and does not get a chance to confirm it (before the time is up), it will be considered attempted (whether right of wrong) and one will not be penalized for not completing that section / test.

Could any one please confirm on these two queries?

Thanks a lot,
Puneet

On the real test, you don't have that same kind of lag because you are connecting to a much more local machine - not a server that might be halfway across the world.

Also on the real test, if you have an answer in but run out of time before you can hit next or confirm, then yes, the real test will still take that answer and count it.
