I want to ask the choice E. -ing modifies preceding clause. but when there are so many sentences. which sentence is modified by -ing. and what is the meaning of preceding clause.

in choice e -ing modifies "whose floor was the sky" or"who dwelt in an upper realm " or the whole sentence
